Dear Members,

As part of our online Blue Heelers community, we hope that you will appreciate these guidelines and strive to abide by them in order to maintain the fun and friendly atmosphere that the list has enjoyed since its inception in September 1998. We hope the guidelines will not be too onerous, but simply help the list to operate in a more organised and efficient manner.

BHFic Guidelines

· This mailing list is strictly for the creation, sharing and discussion of fanfiction relating to the Australian television show “Blue Heelers”. Any posts which are not related to the above will be considered off-topic and should be discussed elsewhere.

· All members are expected to treat each other with due respect to facilitate a fun and positive environment for all. While we encourage constructive criticism and healthy debate, behaviour such as trolling, flaming and general rudeness will not be tolerated.

· Obviously, this is a list for original works and hence plagiarism will not be tolerated in any way, shape or form. Authors are expected to acknowledge their sources openly in the disclaimer and to report any suspected incidents of plagiarism to the Moderators. We hardly need to note that, in addition to being highly immoral, plagiarism is also illegal under Part III of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), which states that copyright subsists in both published and unpublished literary works.

· As “Blue Heelers” is subject to the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), legal disclaimers should be appended to all fanfiction stories. This includes each part of multiple postings.

· New writers should be aware of the posting format which requires new stories to be designated in the subject line, along with any parts and warnings which may apply. New stories should be prefixed “NEW”, re-posts “REP”, general messages “MSG” and all other posts “OT” (slightly off-topic). For example:

NEW: The Art of Death 1/8 (PG-13)

REP: Walking After You 1/1

MSG: New fanfic challenge!

OT: Let’s have a meet next Friday…

· All stories should be carefully edited before posting. BHFic is envisioned as a medium through which aspiring authors, editors and critics can develop their skills for each other’s entertainment and edification.

· Old stories are archived in the Messages section of the Yahoo! Groups website (http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/bhfic/messages), but authors are encouraged to upload their stories in separate folders in the Files section for easy access (http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/bhfic/files/). All members are encouraged to make use of the other functions of Yahoo! Groups, such as polls, links, databases and chat.

· Re-posts of old stories are encouraged, however authors are advised to wait at least six months before reposting unless there have been major editorial changes made to the work.

· E-mail attachments are not permitted, as they may facilitate the spread of virus, are not compatible with all computers and cannot be sent via the list. Sorry guys.

· Feedback is always appreciated by authors!
